چکیده

 Limitations and uncertainties of the model findings are around (1) the correlation between albuminuria and outcomes; this correlation has been shown in retrospect but not in prospective studies; (2) outcome predictors, due to the absence of phase 3 data on finerenone‟s clinical effectiveness to change clinical outcomes; (3) availability of data for progression to macroalbuminuria, due to low numbers of patients in the NHANES database.

To treat or not to treat? Cost-effectiveness of ace inhibitors in non-diabetic advanced renal disease - a Dutch perspective.

BACKGROUND Treating non-diabetic proteinuric patients with advanced renal disease with an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor is still subject to discussion. This study aims to determine the cost-effectiveness of ACE inhibitor therapy in this patient population in the Netherlands. METHODS We compared two strategies: first, treating patients with advanced renal disease with an ACE in...

The cost-effectiveness of losartan in type 2 diabetics with nephropathy in Switzerland--an analysis of the RENAAL study.

BACKGROUND The prevalence and incidence of diabetic nephropathy with endstage renal disease (ESRD) have increased globally over recent decades. Diabetic nephropathy with ESRD for type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) now has to be recognized as a growing public health problem. Several studies have found that angiotensin-II receptor antagonists have a renoprotective effect in type 2 diabetics with diabe...

Assessment of Oral Glycine and Lysine Therapy on Receptor for Advanced Glycation End Products and Transforming Growth Factor Beta Expression in the Kidney of Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Rats in Comparison with Normal Rats

Background & Aims: Today, diabetic nephropathy is considered to be one of the most common causes of end stage renal disease. Uncontrolled hyperglycemia, and consequently, production of advanced glycation end products activate pathways which play key roles in diabetic nephropathy. Among these pathways, high expression of receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE) and transforming growth...

Losartan reduces the costs of diabetic end-stage renal disease: an Asian perspective.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate losartan and conventional antihypertensive therapy (CT) compared with CT alone on the cost associated with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) in Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan. METHODS Reduction of end-points in non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus with the angiotensin II antagonist losartan (RENAAL) was a multinational, double-blind, randomized, ...

Mineralocorticoid receptor blockade in chronic kidney disease.

Mineralocorticoid receptor blockers (MRBs) have proven highly successful in the treatment of congestive heart failure and resistant hypertension. In contrast, their use in chronic kidney disease (CKD) has lagged due to the concern of hyperkalemia and, possibly, because of the incorrect assumption that traditional therapy with angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors and/or angiotensin receptor ...
